Downers Grove Park District will make masks optional for visitors and participants beginning Monday, Feb. 28. Individuals are welcome to continue wearing masks in our facilities if they wish. We ask that all visitors respect the personal choice of others. 

Downers Grove Park District will continue to practice enhanced cleaning protocols such as regular cleaning of highly touched surfaces, equipment and supplies as well as providing hand sanitizer to visitors.

Masks required indoors

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Downers Grove Park District has followed all state and county guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a government agency in Illinois, the Park District is required to follow the guidelines and mandates set by the State of Illinois and DuPage County.

On Aug. 26, Governor Pritzker announced a statewide indoor mask mandate to mitigate the increased transmission of the Delta variant.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 30, Downers Grove Park District will require ALL participants ages 2 and up to wear masks indoors at all times regardless of vaccination status. This includes fitness members, all program participants, visitors and staff.

The safety of our participants and staff is a top priority and we thank you for your cooperation.


CLEANING PROTOCOLS 

The Downers Grove Park District will continue with enhanced cleaning protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Regular cleaning of highly touched surfaces, equipment and supplies.
  • Hand sanitizer readily available to visitors.
  • Use of plastic dividers at customer service counters.
  • Social distance markers where lines may form.

PHASE 5 BEGINS JUNE 11UIDELINES 

 

The Downers Grove Park District has followed all DCEO and IDPH guidelines under the Restore Illinois Plan since the start of the pandemic. Following Phase 5 of the Restore Illinois Plan, capacity limits are now lifted.

The Downers Grove Park District make the following adjustments effective Saturday, June 11.

 

4500 Fitness & Recreation Center

·         Open with full capacity.

·         Hours: Monday to Friday 5AM – 8:30PM, Saturday and Sunday 7AM to 6PM

·         Reservations are NO LONGER REQUIRED for the Fitness Center, Indoor Walking Track or Group Exercise Classes.

·         Steam rooms will remain closed until further notice.

·         The fitness equipment will be cleaned and sanitized at 11am, 3pm and 8pm during regular open hours.

·         Open Gym will continue to require advance reservations. Updates are coming soon and all Open Gym information is available at https://www.dgparks.org/open-gymView the June schedule.

·         Indoor drinking fountains may now be used.

 

Lincoln Center

·         Open with full capacity.

·         Advance registration required for Active Adult Center Card Groups & Social Clubs. Learn more

Lyman Woods

·         The Nature Center will remain closed due to summer camps and programming.

·         Trails remain open.

Downers Grove Museum

·         Open by reservation only due to summer camps and programming. Reserve a tour 

Downers Grove Golf Club Clubhouse

·         Open with full capacity in the Clubhouse. Reserve a tee time 

Summer Concert Series

·         Open with full capacity.

·         Tickets no longer required beginning June 15.

·         If possible, waitlists will be accommodated. Participants will be notified.

FACE COVERINGS 

In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Office of the Governor on June 4, face coverings and social distancing are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals.

The Downers Grove Park District recommends that face coverings be worn indoors AND outdoors for ALL program participants who are not fully vaccinated unless specifically mandated by the State of Illinois for specific activities.

  • Upon entering Phase 5, fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.

 

  • The State will continue to recommend masking for unvaccinated persons, and require it for all people while traveling on public transportation, in congregate settings, in health care settings, as well as in schools, day cares, and educational institutions pursuant to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and CDC guidance. Businesses and local municipalities can put in place additional mitigations as they deem appropriate.

We are eagerly awaiting Governor Pritzker to release an official Executive Order regarding the removal of the indoor mask mandate, which is anticipated to go into effect on Monday, Feb. 28.
