The Downers Grove Park District is actively engaged in the completion of operational plans for the inaugural year of the Adventure Falls Sprayground. Continuous assessment of our operations will be conducted, and adjustments will be made as necessary during the season. We thank you for your patience as we strive to deliver the optimal experience with this new amenity.
Why is the Park District charging a fee to enter the Sprayground?
It's not uncommon for public splashpads to charge admission fees to cover operational costs and ensure the sustainability of the facility. Charging admission fees helps offset expenses related to staffing, maintenance, monitoring, and other operational needs. In the case of our Sprayground, where monitoring capacity levels, chemicals, and mechanicals are essential for safety and proper functioning, the generated revenue from admission fees can contribute to maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors.
Why is the non-resident fee significantly higher than the resident fee?
The construction of Adventure Falls Sprayground was funded with non-referendum general obligation bonds paid for by the residents of Downers Grove Park District through their property taxes. Because of this, the Park District is providing residents with a deeply discounted rate in addition to a season pass option.
Why do residents receive early entry from 10am to 1pm?
The construction of Adventure Falls Sprayground was funded with non-referendum general obligation bonds paid for by the residents of Downers Grove Park District through their property taxes. Because of this, the Park District is providing residents with special resident-only hours.
How will Adventure Falls check residency?
To receive the resident rate, residents will be asked to present a valid driver's license or state ID at the time of purchase.
When will season passes be available for purchase?
Season passes will be available to Downers Grove residents only from May 1 thru June 30, 2024. Passes must be purchased at the Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Rd, during regular business hours.
Why is there a capacity limit of 200?
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is the regulatory agency that enforces state laws and requirements for aquatic facilities in Illinois. The capacity limit (maximum bather load of 200) is set based on the size of the sprayground. The perimeter fencing around the sprayground creates an entry point for staff to monitor capacity to meet this IDPH requirement.
What happens if the capacity limit is reached?
We encourage you to enjoy our Mini Golf Course, Concessions and Playground if the Sprayground reaches capacity. All updates on hours of operation and closures will be communicated through the Rainout Line system, which is available for download at dgparks.org.
How will staff monitor capacity levels?
All guests will receive a wristband upon admission. Staff will monitor guests in and guests out to ensure capacity is within the required limits.
Am I permitted to leave and re-enter the Sprayground?
Yes. Guests may leave the Sprayground and re-enter on the day of their paid admission (provided that capacity limits allow). This will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy other Adventure Falls amenities during their visit.
What happens if the Sprayground closes early due to severe weather?
If our lightning detection system alerts that lightning is imminent, the Sprayground will be temporarily closed. If given the "all clear" alert, the Sprayground will reopen if possible. Weather updates will be posted to the Rainout Line system available for download at dgparks.org.
Can I rent the Sprayground for parties or events?
Information about rentals will be available online beginning May 1.
Is food allowed in the Sprayground?
No. Food must be consumed outside the Sprayground in the park or in the concessions plaza. Non-alcoholic beverages are permitted inside the Sprayground.
Where are the restrooms and showers?
Restrooms are located outside of the Sprayground on the east side of the concessions building. Shower rooms are located inside the restrooms and require a key for entry. See the admissions window for access.
