Description
O’Brien Park was purchased in the mid 1970’s in order to provide active and passive recreation opportunities for residents in the southern portion of the District. The large neighborhood park contains a sled hill, an irrigated soccer field, a 9-hole disc golf course, two separate play areas with play equipment, a newly renovated basketball court, and a small backstop for pick-up baseball games. Parking is located on the west side of the park and can accommodate approximately 40 vehicles.
Disc Golf
O’Brien Park features a 9 hole, par 30 disc golf course, with cement tee pads. Great for beginners. The course begins with fun uphill and downhill shots on holes one and two, followed by a series of six shorter holes, including several shots across a large drainage ditch. Watch out for the retention pond directly behind hole 3 and angle your shots to avoid the trees along holes 5-8. The course ends with a wide-open 300’ stretch on hole 9.Disc Golf is a free activity that is available to the public.

The playground at O'Brien Park was renovated in 2018 as part of the Downers Grove Park District's annual Capital Improvement Program.
