Tier 3 Mitigation Measures

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise throughout the state, Governor Pritzker has announced new statewide Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations that will go into effect this Friday, Nov. 20. The Downers Grove Park District remains committed to following the state guidelines to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and the new mitigation measures will have a significant impact on recreation programs and facilities.

Beginning Nov. 20, we will implement the following changes and requirements until further notice. We ask the community to help in this effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 by following state guidelines and CDC recommendations to watch your distance, wear a mask and wash your hands.

4500 Fitness

  • Remains OPEN to members by reservation only
  • Face coverings required at all times – even when exercising
  • 25% capacity; 30 members per workout time slot
  • Through Nov. 26, time slots will be 1.5 hours. Beginning Nov. 27, time slots will be 1 hour to accommodate more members each day
  • All group exercise classes and premier fitness classes are canceled (Gold Members will receive a refund for their monthly payment which was billed on Nov. 16)
  • Indoor track is open to the community and members by reservation only; face coverings required at all times
  • Virtual programs coming soon

Downers Grove Golf Club

Remains OPEN (weather permitting)


The following facilities will be CLOSED to the public until further notice:

  • Lincoln Center
  • Lyman Woods Interpretive Center
  • Downers Grove Museum
  • Administrative Office

outdoor Organized Group Activities

Outdoor organized group activities limited to 10 persons or less, participants/guests must wear face coverings at all times

The LINK Program

Lincoln Learning Center Preschool Program

  • Canceled through Dec. 31
  • Preschool is tentatively scheduled to resume on Jan. 4, 2021

Nature Programs

  • MOST nature programs at Lyman Woods will run as scheduled and be moved completely outdoors (if a program is canceled, you will be notified via email)
  • NaturePlay Preschool participants will receive more information via email from the program supervisor

Indoor Recreation Programs

  • MOST indoor recreation programs will be canceled through Dec. 31
  • Participants will receive an email with specific information by Monday, Nov. 23
  • If possible, some programs may be moved outdoors or adapted to a virtual format
  • If a program is canceled, participants will receive a prorated or full refund (depending on the start date of the program) by early December.

Virtual Programs & Events

The following virtual fall programs will still run as scheduled. Additional virtual programs will be announced soon!

  • Fortnite Tournaments (Nov. 20, Dec. 4 and Dec. 18)
  • Hoppy Holidays Trivia Night
  • Holiday Glow Decorating Contest
  • Christmas Tree Decorating Contest
  • Virtual Marvelous Mondays
  • Virtual Jump Into Literacy

Winter Registration

Resident registration for winter programs will begin Nov. 30. These programs are scheduled to begin in January.
