Tick Talk with DGPD

Tick season is here - stay safe in our parks!

As we enjoy the warmer months in our parks and natural areas, it's important to be aware of a noticeable increase in tick activity. Ticks thrive in tall grasses and wooded areas, which are abundant in our parks, especially during the spring and summer seasons.

To keep yourself and your loved ones safe, remember to:

  • Wear long sleeves and pants in light colors to easily spot ticks.
  • Stay on the center of trails.
  • Use bug repellent with at least 20% DEET or similar ingredients.
  • Check your clothes, body, and pets after spending time outdoors.
  • Shower and wash clothes promptly to remove any ticks that may have come along for the ride.
