Energy-efficient upgrades coming to the recreation center!
Partially funded through a grant provided by Illinois Energy Now (IEN), new destratification fans and LED light fixtures will be installed at the Recreation Center from April 3 to 7.
Please Note:
- 4500 Fitness Center will remain open during this time.
- Areas of the Fitness Center and the gyms may be inaccessible for a short time.
- There will be no open gym from April 3 to 7 with the exception of Gymnastics Open Gym.
- The walking track will be closed on April 5.
Project Highlights:
Two destratification fans will be installed in the 4500 Fitness Center and nine will be installed in the gymnasium. These fans will reduce energy costs by circulating air and balancing temperature levels in large spaces with high ceilings.
New LED high bays will be installed in the gymnasium, as well as LED fixtures around the running track. Additional LED fixtures will be installed in existing poles on the exterior of the facility. The current metal halide, fluorescent and high pressure sodium fixtures will be removed and recycled.
