The support and enthusiasm received by the community regarding the recently opened tennis and pickleball courts at McCollum Park has been incredible. We hope that these courts will help meet the needs of the tennis and pickleball communities for years to come.

Over the last several weeks, the Park District has received welcomed feedback from tennis/pickleball players and residents neighboring McCollum Park. We thank the community for their support and patience as we continue to evaluate usage patterns, needs and suggestions of all users to make adjustments. Our team is working hard to complete the finishing touches on the courts in addition to implementing new changes as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, the new courts have already experienced vandalism. To report vandalism, please contact the Downers Grove Police Department at the non-emergency number at 630.434.5600.

Coming soon

  • Replacement nets for the pickleball and tennis courts that were recently vandalized (on order)
  • Wind screens on the court fencing (on order; Fall 2023)
  • To assist with identifying wind direction, a new flagpole with lighting will be installed at the south end of the playground, within view of the pickleball courts (Fall 2023)
  • Flipping the competitive and recreational pickleball courts so that the competitive court is on the south end (to be implemented once signage arrives)
  • Directional signage and court labels (September 2023)
  • Surveillance cameras (2023)
  • Permanent benches outside the tennis/pickleball courts (Fall 2023)
