2022 Founders Day

The annual Founders Day Celebration is a collaboration with many community organizations and not-for-profits, which sponsor history-related programs for the enjoyment of the whole community with a special focus on one of our early settlers. 


THURSDAY, APRIL 28

Free Arbor Day Giveaway
Celebrate Arbor Day by helping to grow the urban canopy in Downers Grove! On April 28 and 29, the Downers Grove Park District will provide free seedlings to residents while supplies last. Choose to plant a red oak, swamp white oak, bur oak or overcup oak seedling in your own yard. Planting instructions will be provided. The seedling giveaway is available to Park District residents only; maximum of 2 per person.

  • O’Brien Park (6909 Dunham Rd.): Thursday, April 28 - 11am to 1pm
  • Hummer Park (4833 Fairview Ave.): Thursday, April 28 - 3 to 5pm
