The weather may be cooling off, but we’re just getting warmed up! The Downers Grove Park District is proud to offer the community year-round programs and activities to keep families active even in the winter months. We encourage you to try something new this season!

Winter is a great time to enjoy the great outdoors, relax, unwind and exercise. The District offers multiple locations for sledding, ice skating, skiing and snowshoeing (p. 57). Stay warm and hit some balls at the all-new driving range shelter at the Downers Grove Golf Club (p. 34). Explore nature and make discoveries at Lyman Woods (p. 58).

Planning to start a new year’s resolution to get fit and healthy in 2019? Become a member of 4500 Fitness at the Downers Grove Recreation Center (p. 8)! Membership includes access to our newly remodeled locker rooms, 40+ cardio machines, 3-lane indoor track, free weights, steam rooms and towel service in addition to discounts on personal training and premier and group exercise classes. New members can take advantage of our NEW lower enrollment fees (p. 8). Winter specials include a Student Winter Break Pass and a “5 for $25” Fitness Center and Group Exercise Pass (p. 10)—a great opportunity to kick start or maintain your health goals!

Adults can explore a variety of programs, trips and tours (p. 56) this season! Brush up on your camera skills with our series of photography classes (p. 51), join an adult sports league (p. 31-32) or express yourself through art programs (p. 65) and dance classes (p. 68) just for adults! For adults ages 55+, the Adult Center offers activities and clubs that provide opportunities that encourage friendship and socialization (p. 54).

Looking for fun for the whole family? Check out our new special events! Two new theatrical productions will take place at the Lincoln Center—“Christmas Evie” on Dec. 8 and 9 and “Me, Myselfie and I” on Jan. 11 to 13 (p. 5). Celebrate the new year with the New Year’s Eve Countdown to Noon on Dec. 31 at the Recreation Center (p. 5). Kids can take aim and compete in our Nerf Gun War on Feb. 7 at the Recreation Center (p. 16).

Younger children can explore science, technology and art through our new STEM-based and arts-enrichment programs (p. 42). School-aged kids can stay busy before or after school at The Link (p. 36) as well as during days off from school with The Link Day Off Adventures (p. 37), Spring Break Nature Camp (p. 59) and History Adventure Camp (p. 62). Bundle up and head on out to see us this winter!
