SUMMER CAMP general information

  • Registration is currently open.
  • Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is the Wednesday prior to each week of camp or until the camp fills to the maximum number of participants.
  • Snacks and lunch are not provided by the Park District.
  • All campers should arrive to camp dressed in comfortable clothes that can get messy, socks, and gym shoes.
  • No refunds will be given for missed camp days unless cancelled by the Park District.
  • Waitlists will not be available for traditional day camps which includes Early Childhood camps, Kinder camp, Adventure camps, Teen Trekkers, Nature and Museum camps. If you do not get a spot in your preferred camp, please check online regularly to see if a spot has become available.
  • Age/Grade requirements have been set based on the age appropriateness of the camp activities and camp structure. For camps that are based on grade level, the participant must be entering that grade to participate in that camp.
  • All participants must be fully potty-trained and independent with bathroom needs.

new extended hours in 2023

Both Adventure Camps and Teen Trekkers will now run from 9:00am-5:30pm (instead of 9:00am - 4:00pm) with an option to add on before care from 7:00-9:00am.

The structured camp day will end at 4:00pm and we will then combine all campers (Kinder Camp, both Adventure Camps, and Teen Trekkers) for the last 90 minutes of camp.

Campers who attend camp at Recreation Center who are not picked up right at 4:00pm, will be bussed to Lincoln Center for the last 90 minutes of camp.

The Kinder Camp day will remain 9:00am-4:00pm with before and after camp add on options

full-day CAMP PAYMENT PLAN

  • If you are enrolling in a full-day camp, you will be automatically enrolled in a monthly payment plan.
  • Upon registration, you will pay $20 for each week of camp, which is applied to each monthly payment.
  • The monthly payments will be automatically charged on May 15 for camp sessions 1-3; June 15 for camp sessions 4-6; and July 17 for camp sessions 7-10.
  • Any before care enrollments must be paid in full at the time of registration and are not a part of the monthly payment plan.
  • After care enrollment for Kinder Camp and Nature Camps must be paid in full at the time of registration and are not part of the monthly payment plan.

Friend requests will only be considered if the request form is completed online and submitted by the Wednesday prior to a camp session. Friend requests are not guaranteed. Recreation Supervisors have the final determination in camp group formations.

parent communication

Parents will receive a "Welcome to Camp" email by May 26, 2023 with general camp information including what to wear to camp, what to bring to camp and camp policies. Please note, snacks and lunches are not provided at any camp. Following the initial communication, each camp will be emailed no later than the Friday prior to each session with specific camp information for the upcoming week.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellations/refund requests must be submitted at least 5 days prior to the start of a camp session to receive a full refund minus $5.
  • Any refund requests received within 5 days of a camp session beginning will only be approved if accompanied by a doctor's note due to a medical reason and will be subject to a $10 cancellation fee. -
  • Self-cancellation prior to the deadline can be done online through your account or you can visit dgparks.org/request-a-refund to complete a refund request form. -
  • No refunds will be given for missed camp days unless cancelled by the Park District.

participant information/Emergency forms

  • The Downers Grove Park District will be utilizing ePACT for camper information/emergency forms. Within 1 week of your camp registration, you should receive an email from ePACT to set up an account and complete your camper's electronic information/emergency forms.
  • Information/emergency forms for each camper must be completed through ePACT no later than the Wednesday prior to your child's first camp session and you only need to fill out the forms once regardless of how many camps your child is enrolled in.
  • Campers will not be allowed to attend camp until the information/emergency forms are completed.
  • If your camper is enrolled in a program that is currently using the ePACT system, you only need to update your child's information if something has changed.

Full Day Camps
  • Backpack
  • Change of clothes

  • Filled re-fillable water bottle
  • Sunscreen (arrive already applied - sunscreen is for re-applying)
  • Kinder/Adventure Camp: all of the above PLUS a beach towel to sit on. A swim suit will be needed on determined water days.

Half Day Camps

  • Backpack

  • 1 snack
  • Filled refillable water bottle
  • Sunscreen (arrive already applied - sunscreen is for re-applying)

  • Nature Camps: all of the above PLUS insect repellant already applied and a hat is recommended

financial assistance program

In an effort to provide recreation, health and wellness opportunities to all residents, including those who are experiencing financial hardships, the Downers Grove Park District has established a Financial Assistance Program. Participants must reside wihtin the boundaries of the Downers Grove Park District to be eligible. Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp: This full-day, week-long camp for children entering grades 1 to 5 will keep kids having fun all summer! Every day brings something new, including arts and crafts, sports, field trips and special events. Summer camp field trip calendar will be available in Spring 2023. No camp Monday, July 3 and 4.

TRADITIONAL FULL-DAY CAMP BEFORE care

BEFORE CARE

Need summer camp care before 9:00 am? We've got you covered! Before care for all Traditional Full-Day Camps is available from 7:00 to 9:00am at the Lincoln Center. This camp is located at the Lincoln Center and will be a combination of all Traditional Day Camp participants. Adventure Camp 3rd-5th grade and Teen Trekkers will be bussed from the Lincoln Center to the Recreation Center every morning for the 9am start of camp. Before care registration must be paid in full at the time of registration and is not a part of the monthly payment plan. No camp on July 3 and 4.
