The playground at Concord Square Park is getting a much-needed renovation!
Removal of the existing equipment is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 31, with completion of the new playground and surfacing anticipated by Oct. 15. The playground will be closed during construction.
The current play equipment, installed in 2001, is now 25 years old and will be replaced with new equipment designed to serve children of varying ages. The new playground will feature a separate play structure specifically for preschool-age children ages 2 to 5, similar to many of the Park District’s other playgrounds, as well as two additional swings. Artificial turf grass play surfacing will also be installed, replacing the existing wood mulch and providing a more accessible and durable play surface. The current playground equipment will be donated to Kids Around the World, giving it the opportunity to continue serving children in another community.
