Annual Fishing Derby at Patriots Park/Barth Pond

Saturday, August 5: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm


Reel in three hours of family fun at the Annual Fishing Derby. Prizes are awarded for the shortest and longest fish caught by each age level. The Downers Grove Moose, Rod and Gun Club and the Downers Grove Park District sponsor this annual event.

A fishing license is required for participants 16 years and up. Licenses can be purchased at Walmart, Bass Pro Shop or Sports Authority. Register at Barth Pond on the day of the Derby.

5 years and under

6-10 years

11-15 years

16 years and older


Rules

Registration at the Park District information booth is required prior to participation. Registration is open to everyone and begins at 8:00 a.m.

This event is CATCH AND RELEASE only.

All participants under 17 years of age must have a parent or adult guardian present at all times.

Participants 16 years of age and older must have a valid State of Illinois Fishing License.

Fishing Derby starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m. No fish caught before or after these times will be entered in the derby. We respectfully request that no one participating in the derby begins prior to the official start of the event. Upon catching your fish, please bring the fish to an onsite volunteer to be measure and entered into the contest. Please release your fish once measured.

All anglers must fish from the shoreline. Boats, rafts, floatation devices or waders will not be allowed during contest times. Participants must bring their own equipment and abide by state of Illinois Fish and Wildlife regulations. We ask that all participants use only ONE fishing line to allow room for all participants to fish.

Trophies and additional awards will be given for biggest fish and smallest fish caught by each of the four (4) age groups. Age groups are defined as follows:

5 years of age and younger

6-10 years of age

11-15 years of age

16+ years of age
