Soccer CampSummer Camps

Downers Grove Park District summer camps include action-packed sport camps, unique specialty camps, traditional day camps and our ever-popular preschool camps! Take a swing at our new golf camps or explore your historical side at one of our museum camps. It’s your chance to play at the Downers Grove Park District.

Summer Camp Philosophy
We believe in enriching activities that encourage social and emotional growth, promote respect and kindness toward others and foster a sense of pride and honesty in both action and words. It is our goal to provide opportunities for campers to expand their knowledge and skills, experience active fun-filled days, explore the outdoors and develop lifelong friendships.

Pee Wee Camp - 2 1/2 - 3 Years
Is your child ready to begin his or her journey into independence? Pee Wee Camp is designed to help young children transition into a structured program, where gaining independence and fostering socialization skills are emphasized. A caring and comforting environment with experienced teachers are the heart of the program. Creative expression, circle time and motor skill development will help your child get ready for their next classroom adventure. Class structure is consistent with the fall ThreeSchool program, the stepping stone to the Lincoln Learning Center Program.

Exploration Station: 3 - 5 Years Old
Preschool campers have a blast making new friends while enjoying stimulating activities in a supportive atmosphere. Creativity and imagination abound as campers actively engage in their world through arts & crafts, stories, songs, indoor and outdoor games and free play time. Camp activities enhance social skills and ease separation anxiety. Camp includes a daily nut-free snack.

Week of June 24 – 28: Cold Blooded Creatures program at the Lincoln Center Week of July 22 – 26: Walking trip to Every Day’s a Sundae
  Week of July 29 – August 2: Water Days at Lincoln Center

More information regarding field trips and special programs will be provided by your camp leaders once camp begins. Trips are subject to change.

 

Ready 4 Preschool Mini-Camp: 3 - 4 Years Old - NEW THREE DAY OPTION!
Ready 4 Preschool Mini-Camp combines the excitement of summer adventures with preschool-readiness themes that inspire children to learn and grow. The structure of camp is consistent with the Lincoln Learning Center preschool program, building a sense of continuity and familiarity. Themes are supplemented with crafts, songs, games and outdoor play. A nut-free snack is served during camp. Children are required to be potty trained.



Gilbert Park AdventuresAdventure Camp: 1st - 5th Grade (Full-Day Option); 1st - 3rd Grade (Half-Day Option)
Adventure Camp offers children a traditional camp experience including group games, sports, skits, songs, stories, swimming, field trips, crafts and team building activities. Adventure Camp follows the motto: Play fair, play hard…doing your best is more important than being the best.

Flexible enrollment options include full and half-day weekly sessions, daily registration and extended care before and after camp.

Climbing the rock wallTeen Trekkers: 6th - 9th Grade
Hey Middle School Students! Tired of sitting at home with nothing to do over the summer? Gather your friends and join us for Teen Trekkers. Your summer will instantly become a memorable one with laughter and crazy good times! Each week we travel around Chicago and the suburbs experiencing interactive, action-packed days with old and new friends. Favorite past trips include: Six Flags Great America, Navy Pier, Xtreme Trampoline, Game Works, rock climbing, a variety of water parks, Haunted Trails and more!

Junior Counselor Program: Entering 7th - 9th Grade
The Junior Counselor program allows young adults the opportunity to train to become a camp counselor. Participants will develop leadership skills by assisting camp staff with daily activities at Adventure Camp. It all starts with learning how to apply and interview for a summer camp job. From there, Junior Counselors will receive guidance in the areas of lesson planning,safety and organizational skills. A truly rewarding experience for young adults interested in working with children and serving as a role model.

2013 Jr. Counselor Application. Applications must be submitted along with an essay explaining why you wish to become a Jr. Counselor. All candidates must be available for an in-person interview.


Golf Camps: 4 - 18 Years Old
New Junior Golf Camps at the Downers Grove Park District Golf Course for ages 4 – 18 offer new golfers instruction on the basics of golf and experienced golfers the chance to continue to learn the game.

FUNdamental Sports Camps: 5 - 10 Years Old
FUNdamental Sports is a sports-based program that provides a holistic framework to facilitate learning and life skill development in today’s youth. We use sports as an opportunity for kids to connect with others, enhance their skills, and have a positive athletic experience.

Lyman Woods Summer Camps

Summer at Lyman Woods is full of exciting outdoor adventures! Summer camps are packed with nature exploration, crafts and games, muddy fun in the garden and plenty of nature play in the Wild Woods! Each camp is designed to encourage play in nature while introducing age-appropriate nature and science concepts. Our summer camp counselors are trained naturalists with a background in outdoor education. Parents will receive a detailed orientation packet via email.

Tiny Tadpoles (Ages 2-3 & Adult): Accompany your little ones on their first summer camp adventures! Introduce them to the outdoors through age appropriate stories, crafts, songs, walks in the woods and fun outdoor games. Great for grandparents, too! 

Nature Adventure Camp (Ages 4-12): Discover all of the fun and adventure of Lyman Woods! Younger campers are introduced to nature discovery and play, while older campers are challenged with conducting experiments, solving mysteries, and overcoming challenges through teamwork. Each day of camp includes the always favorite Wild Woods- a place where campers can build forts, catch bugs and toads, and let their imaginations run wild! 

Trailblazers (Ages 10 - 14): This camp is for kids who are ready for the next level of outdoor adventure!  Meet new friends while you learn outdoor and survival skills, test your personal limits and encourage each other during teambuilding challenges.

 


History Camp

History Camps

Satisfy your historical interests and experience American History throughout the summer with a selection of nine distinct and interesting history camps. Sign up for a week or just a day with our new flexible schedules!

Receive a complimentary historic memento when you register and complete three weekly history camps. Camps are offered every week of the summer and are generally for children ages 7-12 years.
