Gymnastics
The Downers Grove Park District offers many classes in Gymnastics & Tumbling.
This program is designed to challenge each gymnast to achieve his or her personal best both on and off the gymnastic floor. Students develop concentration skills, coordination and self-confidence that serve them well in all facets of life. 
Classes are offered to children ages 18-months & up ranging from motor development to competitive routines.

Meet Our Gymnastics Instructors:

Tristyn Healey has been with the Downers Grove Park District for over 4 years and is currently a Lead Gymnastics Instructor and Twisters Team Coach. Tristyn has a diverse background in gymnastics with 12 years of experience as an Aerial Gymnastics Club Gymnast, a New Zealand National Gymnast for one year, and four years at Downers Grove North Gymnastics program. He has also worked for the Chicago Park District as a Gymnastics Instructor and Boys Gymnastics Team Coach. Tristyn is a great asset for our program and we look forward to his future with the Park District. |

Laura Kanis is currently a sophomore at College of DuPage and has been with the Downers Grove Park District gymnastics program for three years as an instructor. Laura competed as a varsity level gymnast for Downers Grove North for four years. Laura was also a member of the Park District Twisters Gymnastics Team and the Indian Boundary YMCA Team in which she was a state and national qualifier. Laura brings a lot of energy to our program and we are happy to have her at the Downers Grove Park District. |

Amy Shearer has been with the Downers Grove Park District for over 11 years and is currently the Gymnastics Coordinator, Lead Gymnastics Instructor and Twisters Team Head Coach. Amy started her coaching career as a YMCA Gymnastics Instructor and was a YMCA national team coach. She was a competitive gymnast for many years and was a member of the Downers Grove South Gymnastics Team. Amy has a Bachelor’s degree from UIC in Physical Education (kinesiology) and Coaching and she also coaches at the UIC Gymnastics Camp in the summer. We are happy to have Amy as part of our team and look forward to her continued success with the gymnastics program. |

Dana Vahl is currently a sophomore at the College of DuPage and has been working with the Downers Grove Park District for one year. Dana was a member of the Park District Twisters Gymnastics Team, varsity cheerleader and a varsity gymnast at Downers Grove North High School. Dana brings great enthusiasm for the program and we are happy to have her at the Downers Grove Park District. |

Dave Valdez has been a gymnast for seven years and has been with the Downers Grove Park District gymnastics program for four years. Dave is a graduate from Downers Grove North High School in which he was captain of the boy’s gymnastics team. Dave will be attending Lewis University this fall with aspirations to become an elementary school teacher. Dave is another valued member the Downers Grove Park District gymnastics program.

Katrina Prosek is the newest member of the Downers Grove Park District gymnastics staff. Katrina is a senior at Downers Grove South High School where she is captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. Katrina has been a gymnast since the age of 4 in which she started at Downers Grove Park District and then became a member of the Indian Boundary YMCA competitive team and finally with the Park District’s Twisters Team. She is also a member of the Athletics Committed to Excellence Club as well as the National Honor Society. Katrina is a great addition to the Park District’s gymnastics program and we look forward to her future with our program.
Tracy Callahan Molnar teaches Little Rascals Rhythmic Gymnastics and is USA Gymnastics Safety Certified, Kinder Accreditation for Teachers and the Team Leader of the 1996 U.S. Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics Team. |
