Hours: Dawn to Dusk except evenings when permitted lighted activity (operational, artificial lighting)
is occurring. The park will close immediately after lights are turned off until dawn the following day. No person shall remain in park system unless a permit is granted in advance. Security lighting shall not be considered operational, artificial lighting.
This very active neighborhood park is situated at the western end of Gilbert Avenue and has been developed on the site of a former quarry. There is a high quality lighted league baseball field which sits in a depression with at appearance of a natural amphitheater. The play area is situated in the southeast cornet of the park and contains new CPSC and ADA compliant equipment and surfacing, a full-court basketball court, new ADA accessible restrooms and a refurbished shelter with limestone facade. The land rises sharply toward Maple Grove Forest Preserve immediately west of the site, and the resultant hill is used for sledding on an informal basis. The neighboring Forest Preserve provides for a most aesthetically pleasing setting.
