Burlington and Walnut
Burlington Avenue and Walnut Avenue
Hours: Dawn to dusk
As the name implies, this property is located immediately northeast of the intersection of Burlington
Avenue and Walnut Avenue, and immediately west of the Belmont Prairie site. The eastern portion of this site is officially designated as State Preserve Buffer totaling approximately 15.4 acres. While the entirety of the property is currently undeveloped, approximately five acres in the southwest corner of the site adjacent to the Burlington and Walnut intersection are not hydrologically integrated with the buffer. This portion of the property does have the potential for development as a mini-park including play equipment and associated facilities. A new Metra station is planned for the site immediately northwest of the Burlington and Walnut intersection, across Walnut from this potential park site.
